What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are downloaded and stored on your computer or device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferences. Where cookie technology is not available, an anonymous identifier may be used for the same purposes. An anonymous identifier is a random string of characters.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called “first-party cookies”. Cookies set by other organisations, for example providers of analytics or ticketing services, are called “third-party cookies”.
Cookies may be “session cookies”, which are deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent cookies”, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
Your consent
Strictly necessary cookies are required for our website to work and do not need your consent. All other cookies (such as analytics cookies) are only used with your consent. When you first visit our website, a cookie banner asks you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookies and revisiting our website, or by adjusting your browser settings as described below.
The types of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the operation of our website, for example to remember your cookie preferences, keep our website secure and enable forms and ticket purchases to work.
- Analytics and performance cookies. These allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and see how visitors move around our website, which pages they visit and how they found us. This helps us improve the way our website works and understand the effectiveness of our marketing.
- Functionality cookies. These remember choices you make, such as whether you have opened our chat window, so that we can provide a more personalised experience.
