To kick off our morning of insights we’ve invited edtech investors and founders to discuss how start-ups and scale-ups can tap into the various routes to investment as well as exploring best practice in bootstrapping your way to success. Following this we’ll navigate the UK market landscape including perspectives on access to schools, FE Colleges, HEIs as well as D2C and B2B/B2G markets. Rounding off the morning, we’ll host a panel discussion leveraging various growth experts who will cover the strategic, talent, and technical considerations of scaling an edtech business.

  • 14:30 - 15:30 | Piloting and evaluating EdTech in English schools - Who needs EdTech Testbeds?
    Hosted by: IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society
    Every Edtech enterprise needs to get a sense of how their product or service meets the needs of their users - and if the product or service is facing school-age learners, then making contact with schools and teachers is a high priority. Around the world, “EdTech Testbeds” are being established to enable this to happen, with a range of additional positive impacts along the way. However, funding and sustaining EdTech Testbeds is challenging - as is finding the right incentives for the schools and learning scientists that participate in them. This workshop, led by the Global Edtech Testbed Network (https://globaledtech.org/) aims to share learnings from other countries’ Testbed efforts, and initiate a discussion on which approaches might suit the English school context.
